India’s Republic Day 2013 saw the launch of hi-tech jack-up rig "Dynamic Vision" of Vision Drilling Pte Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dynamic Offshore Drilling Limited. What is peculiar of this launch is the passion displayed by its promoters the owner company and the fabrication yard to bring it afloat in a record time maintaining perfect safety standards rarely seen anywhere around the world. The rig will be deployed on a five year charter by Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) in western part of offshore India.

Dynamic to boost fleet with further newbuilds

Cyprus-based Dynamic Offshore Drilling is planning to expand its fleet with more newbuild units, the second of which could be ready for service by 2016.

Dynamic is considering building many more rigs, and will “maybe start as soon as possible”, said Dynamic Chairman Naresh Kumar.

Dynamic Offshore Drilling to deploy rig for ONGC from next mth

Dynamic Offshore Drilling will deploy a newly built exploration rig next month in the Western offshore part of India for drilling oil and gas wells for Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC).

The USD 205-million rig, christened 'Dynamic Vision' here yesterday, has entered into a five-year contract with ONGC, Dynamic Offshore Drilling said.

Naresh Kumar outlines the scenario of onland and offshore rigs and E&P activity in India in this interview with Sandeep Menezes.

The Centre has approved a three year rig holiday for oil explorers as a severe severe shortage of offshore drilling rigs has delayed output schedules. The three-year rig moratorium came in the backdrop of a sudden spur in E&P activity due to high crude prices during 2007-08. Deep water rigs suddenly were in shortage due to high demand world over. Indian oil and gas operators that were bound as per PSC to finish their minimum work programmes in specified period were unable to hire rigs due to unavailability and skyrocketing prices which appreciated by up to 250 per cent.

He was re-elected unanimously in the 19th Governing Council Meeting of the Society, to serve his fourth consecutive term as the President. Mr. Naresh Kumar, Managing Director of Jindal Drilling & Industries Ltd. and President of the Petrotech Society, an international oil & gas conferences and exhibitions organization which formed in January, has been once again unanimously elected as Chairman Oil & Gas Service Division - Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). His foresight and cohesive efforts to assist with the resurgence to the Indian oil & gas services industry played a major role in his re-election.

CII is playing a proactive role in India's development process and serves as a reference point for the Indian industry and the international business community. CII has membership of over 96,300 companies and around 336 affiliated associations.
